The bulb has been planted in a jar with stones and water 3/4 of the way to the top of the stones, touching the bottom of the roots. There are beginnings of roots but they have not begun to grow and change. The plant hormone Auxin is typically present in the seed embryo and assists with root initiation as well as cell elongation and division and xylem and phloem differentiation.
